When the 18 Pro makes sense
- Your Pro is an iPhone 14 Pro or older and you want Apple Intelligence, which needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
- Your phone is near the end of its updates. The iPhone 11 Pro and 12 Pro models likely have about a year left.
- Something expensive broke. Other damage on a recent Pro costs $709 to $899 at Apple without AppleCare+.
When to keep your Pro
- It's a 15 Pro, 16 Pro or 17 Pro with years of updates and Apple Intelligence already. The upgrade costs hundreds for a phone that does many of the same things.
- The battery is the problem. $89 to $119 at Apple is a fraction of the upgrade.
What's new on the 18 Pro, briefly
The A20 Pro chip, a narrower Dynamic Island, the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes as the 17 Pro models, and storage up to 2 TB. Apple charges $129 for an 18 Pro battery and $849 for other damage on the 18 Pro.
