iPhone Duo

What the iPhone Duo
really costs

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999. The bigger number is what it costs to fix: $999 for the inner screen and $1,499 for other damage without AppleCare+. Here's the full cost of owning Apple's first foldable, and how to protect it.

Other damage (incl. hinge)$1,499$9975%

Apple's US estimates. Battery with AppleCare+ is free once health is below 80%. Apple doesn't list a hinge repair, so expect hinge problems to be billed as other damage. Rear camera and the outer display + back combination with AppleCare+ follow Apple's usual iPhone fees.

Is AppleCare+ worth it on the Duo?

For many owners, yes. AppleCare+ costs $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year, so two years is $399.98. One inner-display repair costs $999 without it and $99 with it, so the plan pays for itself after a single inner-screen accident ($498.98 in total against $999). On a regular iPhone, it usually takes a more serious accident to break even.
