Get your exact estimateWhen to replace the battery
Check Settings → Battery → Battery Health. AppleCare+ covers a free battery replacement once maximum capacity falls below 80%, and iOS shows a service message when the battery has significantly degraded.
- The phone no longer lasts the day.
- It shuts down unexpectedly, especially in the cold or under load.
- It feels slower than it used to. iOS can limit peak performance on a worn battery to avoid unexpected shutdowns, and a new battery removes that limit.
With AppleCare+
If your iPhone has AppleCare+, Apple replaces the battery at no charge once its health is below 80%. Check your coverage at checkcoverage.apple.com with your serial number.
Why it's usually the smartest repair
A battery is the part that wears out first, and replacing it makes an older iPhone feel close to new again: full-day battery life, and no performance limits. For $89 to $129 on most models, it's often the difference between upgrading this year and keeping your phone one more year.
